Subject: [CVCC] Power Line Noise found!

A guy from Dominion Virginia Power (Ken Lyons) came this morning. I showed him via the Omni VII sweep and let him hear by ear the buzzing noise I am experiencing on the 20 meter band and higher QRG.  He jumped in his truck, tuned in the noise on his equipment,  drove around the neighborhood, and was able to find the noisy location on a pole about two blocks from me.  He will report it to maintenance and follow up with me to make sure it gets fixed!

It sure will be nice to hear weaker stations (below S5) on 20 meters again!

My thanks to the local CVCC members for giving me the contact information for the noise guys at the power company.

It appears all need to supply to the secretary?their six-character grid locator.
Mine is FM17HQ
>From reading new contest rules I gather the following:The secretary provides a list of eligible members on line which include their six character grid locator.? The "circle" will be generated by HQ based on grid locators.

 Earlier this year, following a challenge that resulted in the realignment of 
several club scores in the ARRL 10 Meter Contest, it became clear that 
the Club Competition rules were not being enforced as consistently as 
they should have been. 


In order to make sure club results are accurate and fair to all, the ARRL 
Contest Branch is renewing its effort to help clubs comply with the rules 
(See Section 8 of the ? General Rules for All Contests .?) 


The Contest Branch has announced changes in three areas: 
- online uploading of club rosters 
- the use of six-character grid locators, and, 
- the deadline for submitting eligibility.
