Thanks for all the e-mails and calls.  After visiting the Cardiac surgeon today I feel like the shepherd boy who cried "wolf" - false alarm! The surgeon said the pictures (CT scan and X-ray)show all wires in place and 2/3 of the sternum has fused.  The problem is the other 1/3 which has not and may never fuse!  That's what is causing the slight movement and popping noises in my chest.  He said he could go in rewire the whole thing but he did not recommend that! I should take it easy (no bench press competition) and not to lift over 20 lbs for the next 6 months.  Then call him if I still have problems and maybe we'd do another CT scan and look at the situation again. I'm think I'd have to be in extreme distress to ever broach this subject again!
