Judy and I have been away since May 9th arriving back home 2 days ago. I had a voice mail from W4DR. Doing some research I found this obituary. I talked to Ed (KG4W) a few minutes ago and expressed our condolences and let him know our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family in this time of sadness. It's extremely difficult to lose one of your children.

HUGHES, Edwin "Barry," age 49, of Glen Allen and Wake, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He is survived by his loving parents, Ed and Marie Hughes; and "Favorite" (and only) sister, Anita Nichols; also by his two children, Morgan Marie Hughes, Christen Nichole Hughes; and his ex-wife, Lisa Hughes. Also surviving Barry is his brother-in-law, John Nichols; and nephews, Justin Edward Nichols and Austin Ryan Nichols, all of either Richmond or Glen Allen, Va. He graduated from Hermitage High School and worked as an electrician at Hazzard Electric (15 years) and the past 12 years for Henrico County, also as an electrician. Barry loved his family members very much and loved his job. He was known for his sense of humor and his love of Country music, both listening and singing. He loved the outdoors while hunting and fishing. Barry was good at working with his hands and was also available to help anyone he could. Unfortunately, he was handed a "bad deal" as his health was concerned and suffered tremendous back, knee and feet pain. His suffering here on earth is now over. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, May 17, at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. There will be no graveside service as Barry's body will be cremated.
