After reading all the email's concerning the future of CVCC here are a few
comments:
Suggestion is that we drop the newsletter and send out a meeting notice and
an agenda for the upcoming meeting. Part of the agenda could be that
everyone share their news of the previous month, examples would be sharing
of their personal accomplishments,DX worked , and new equipment, etc.
When we first joined the club that was done but has not happened for quite
some time now.
If you want to know what has been happening with other club members attend
the meeting.
We both enjoy working DX but any contesting we do will be done from home. We
are still building up our country totals. Like some others have stated we do
have other interests and contesting is not on the top of our list. We will
continue to support the club with contesting but on a lower level.
We do support the club by attending almost every meeting, attending the
Annual Picnic and of course the Christmas dinner.
I guess you could say there are different ways to support the club and
although we are not great contesters like some of you are we do make an
effort to attend club meeting and functions, not everyone does that.
We have also put on several programs.
We enjoy the club camaraderie.
When there is a new DXpedition we enjoy the competition with other club
members for band slots. We always like going up against Bob, W4DR, and it
would be fun to have others join in the competition.
73,
Bruce and Sheila

BTW - when I said below that "even fewer are good at contesting", I include
Myself in that bunch. Never could do the long haul or running in a cw
Contest. (<:

Ok, I've read the replies to date. Figured I'd better submit something or
Be banished.... Hmmmm...now there's a way to get out of election....
Nevermind. You're stuck with a long reply, or you can just hit delete.
The club has been through the highs and lows before, almost like the sunspot
Cycles, it's come close to zero more than once. I for one would not like to
See the club hit minimum. I enjoy the meetings, the camaraderie, and
Submitting a small entry to our club competitions; all of which is where I
Am at this point in my radio activity. I am rarely on the air outside of
Those few contests. I have other things that pull my interest at this
Stage. I know this doesn't fit the mold for the club winning contests and
I feel bad for that, but it's where I am. From reading the other replies, I
See others sitting in more or less the same chair (or not as the case may
Be). All of us have things going on in our lives that interrupt contesting
And in some cases ham radio in general, some to more extent than others.
That's life.
My thoughts only, for what they are or are not worth....
Meeting attendance:
- Tough one. Bottom line is the meeting has to have something to make one
Want to make the effort to show up: a topic that one can learn something
