There is no October News Letter because I did not send my information to George. Sept was a busy month with a trip to TN to take my mom to visit my sister who is terminal cancer patient. This may be the last time we see her. Upon arrival back home we had to get ready for the big fall steak dinner we hosted for the Forrest Lake Hills Civic Association. That was a lot of work but went off smoothly. Consequently, I was not really thinking much of ham radio or the CVCC in September. I apologize for that.

The October 2012 meeting will indeed be tonight, October 2, 2012 at the same time and place. I will be going to dinner at the Golden Corral, Gaskins and West Broad, at 5:30 P.M. I hope some of you can join me.

The program will be a showing of a DVD provided by Bruce of the Sept 2011 DXpedition to T32C, Kiritimati also known as Christmas Island.

An item of discussion will be the future of the CVCC DX cluster. Dennis is moving out to the "boonies" and needs someone to volunteer to host the cluster. He will give more information. I had an e-mail from him but can't seem to find where I filed it!

Jonathan advised he is looking for an FT-2000 to replace his current rig. A lightning strike damaged his Mark V. It will transmit and receive but will not talk to the computer. That's not good for a contest rig!

Speaking of contests, there are a few good ones coning up this month. The CAQP is a really big QSO party and worth giving a go. In Nov. we have Sweepstakes and in Dec. of course our 160 and 10 meter club efforts. Please try to take part in these club contests. As you know we won gavels in both last year. Hopefully we can field a multi or two this year.

Jonathan also mentioned he has some tower damage and is looking for help:

"A limb has fallen across a guy section & the tower has a kink in it. I need
a resource to make repairs.
Anybody have a resource for such repairs????
Jonathan"

ALSO lets not forget the December CVCC Holiday dinner. We need to plan this and get a spot reserved.

I hope to see you at the meeting.

73,
Puck W4PM
