Subject: 2012 ARRL DX Phone Results
Finally had a few minutes to go to the website & peruse the enhanced version
of the QST article which included notes from each Division, in our case
K3XC/Ryan for the Roanoke Division.
The Team at W4HZ finished number 10 in the U.S in the MS HP category, number
1 in the South East Region MS HP & number 1 in the Roanoke Division MS HP.
Ryan's quote "Despite tough competition, the W4HZ Team made Top 10 in the
U.S. with 1,593,270 MS HP score"!
CVCC Pride!!!! Local Category gavel with 6,687,126 score with 10 logs!!!
To put it mildly, we've got the best of the best!!!! Do you remember when,
some 5 or 6 years ago when I took the President's job, the naysayers &
prophets of doom said that CVCC was dead & couldn't be resurrected?
I say only this to them ."BITE ME!!"

To expand on Jonathan's message I've added the full results. I can't remember the last time the CVCC had won a gavel in this contest. Thanks to Jonathan's vision a few years back this club got back on track, being what it started out to be, an autonomous Contest Club which strives to compete and win (yes win!)a number of selected contests during the year in the local club category. Last contest season began with CVCC wins in the ARRL 160 and 10 meter contests. Now we've added the icing on the cake by wining our category the ARRL DX Contest!
While we taken off a couple of months during the summer I hope you are all ready to begin the year anew with our September meeting and have put the 2012 ARRL 160 and 10 meter contests on your calendar. We need at least one and preferably two Multi entries in these contests as well as some big numbers from our home stations. Start thinking now how you can help!
The ARRL DX Phone and CW contests are judged as one contest in the club competition. We normally have more than 10 entries when logs from both sections are combined so we have been just submitting either all Phone or all CW logs for the contest. 2010 was our CW only entry with 10 logs and 2011 was phone only with 7 logs. This year it quickly became apparent that we would have trouble getting 10 logs combined! I therefore decided we'd submit both CW and Phone logs for CVCC credit. It worked out well with our biggest score in years and a WIN! Even though I've extremely pleased at the results I see that in actuality we only had 10 members and 2 guests participating! Surely we can do better than that next year!
Complete results follow. I hope the formatting doesn't get too screwed up!
