I enjoyed working the contest as part of the team at Jonathan's home. If I
could contribute one thing to contesting it would be to encourage dx
stations to pick some standardized words instead of some of the phonetics
they do pick which are not very good under poor rx condx -- but what the
heck its all in good fun!!!
I worked a few strong sigs at my home QTH. One was DR1A. I went to the web
site listed on Buck Master http://www.dr1a.com/pages/en/home.php?lang=EN .
It is a very nice site. The opening photo on the home page of their towers
is impressive. I want to say that the layout is deliberate and purposeful
and I think I have seen some of their tower designs in other support
applications over the years.
Another thing that struck me was the planning that went into laying the
underground conduit for transmission lines and so forth (along with other
aspects). The whole facility is very first rate in my view. I spent almost
my whole life dealing with comm sites and it is really interesting to see
the prior planning some people put into their stations to get the most of
the time spent operating the event.
