Subject: [PVRC] 2009 Sweepstakes Question #1: Participating from
multiplelocations

Dear PVRC Sweepstakes fans (and thanks to Chris for this question),

By now, some of you have begun receiving emails requesting your passionate
participating in the 2009 Sweepstakes event as we try to maintain our
leadership status and hand NCCC second place for the second year in a row.

A question was asked about operating with a group, then coming home and
operating single-op (presumably with different equipment and a different
call sign).

Generally, we encourage single-operator efforts for sweepstakes, because it
maximizes the club score. If the only way it will get you on the air is to
be part of of multi-op, however, by all means, do it!

The idea of participating in a multi-op (with a unique multi-op call sign,
i.e. not yours), then going to your house and operating at home is an
excellent way to have your fun with a group, and still give more points to
the PVRC club competition. Your two golden rules to remember:

1. You may not use any radio (tranceiver) that you have used with one call
sign for any other call sign.

2. You may not use the same call sign at more than one location.

Competing clubs have been coming up with "interesting" ways to maximize the
club score - however in the final analysis, it is the raw number of logs
submitted that normally determines the Sweepstakes winner. This is not a
secret, and you can see how it played out in our victory last year.

73,

Jim WX3B
