Sounds like a winning team has been organized for my favorite
contest - VAQP.

Hopefully, I will be there for the duration and plan to do whatever
it takes to get us over that 1 Million point mark.

                                 GO CVCC!!!!!!!

                        Regards,

                                      Walt Kornienko - K2WK

Subject: [CVCC Members] VA QSO Party - W4ML M/M

Greetings,

As was announced at the March meeting, I will host a M/M
for the VA QSO Party. I really did not think it would come off
as the station was never put back together after Field Day 2008
and equipment sales but here we are.

George, KF7NN, put many hours in to fix the two remaining
FT-1000s and we used his call for a few contacts in the ARRL DX SSB
contest. To do that the 160/80 and 40M positions were put back in
service and the TS-2000 was used in 10/15 and 20M.

Since then the 10 and 15M positions were put back in service.

The lineup is similar to the past in the VA QSO Party.

160 - FT1000MP - 8877 amp - desktop computer
80 - FT1000 - 4X1000.amp - desktop
40 - FT1000MP - 8877 amp - desktop
20 - TS2000 - L4B amp - desktop
15 - TS930 (maybe TS940) - L4B amp - desktop
10/40 - FT1000 - AL-1500 amp - laptop

144/440 FM Kenwood duobander - laptop (146.580/446.000)

Right now there is no plan for a 6M station.

Based on feedback from several, the following folks have expressed
interest in operating:

W1ZA Sunday until the end
W4HZ Saturday until 9PM or so
WK4Y Saturday until ?
K2WK no set schedule yet
W4HJ Sunday afternoon
WS4WW no set schedule yet
KF7NN no set schedule yet
ME, I will be here

Last year we came VERY close to 1,000,000 points.
Breaking that 1,000,000 point score is the goal for
this year. Last years numbers were:

Band CW Qs Ph Qs Dig Qs
 ----------------------------
   160: 78 73
    80: 82 525
    40: 260 683
    20: 192 984
    15: 0 54
    10: 1 11
     6: 3 33
     2: 114
   UHF: 49
 ----------------------------
 Total: 616 2526 0 Mults = 238 Total Score = 972,230

27,770 points separated us from 1,000

120 SSB QSO's or 60 CW QSO's OR 11 multipliers would have
put us over the top!

We will use N1MM as the logging program. The computers will
NOT be networked as only one set of serial numbers is the norm
in N1MM for this contest.
This allows us to have one set of numbers per computer(so).
The down side of this approach is the frequencies of the other
positions is not at the operator's disposal which could
be used to move anyone that is willing to move for us. It would
allow us to tell if a station has been worked on other bands or modes.
I guess someone will have to pass notes of the other positions frequency.
The other down side is that we will not be able to see the final score
until after the contest is over.

Last year I screwed up and did not use packet due to the way I read the
rules. Guess it is/was oldies!
Packet IS allowed for M/M and we will use it. The difference this year is
that
each position will log into the packet network individually unless
I can come up with a better way.
We will use N3UA's cluster.

We need to work the multipliers! They are Virginia counties and independent
cities, States, VE providences and all the DX countries we can work.
Packet will help us do that. Multipliers only count once so they can be
worked
on any band and count towards the total.

The Russian contest is on until 8AM Sunday morning. This can provide a
wealth of multiplier and CW contacts if we have enough CW ops in the first
18 hours of the contest. 15/20 and 40M can be very productive for this and
when
I get better commitments, I will try to schedule CW ops on those bands for
that time period.

Misc:

Pizza and subs from the corner will be the norm for lunch and dinner.
Coffee, Cokes and water will be here. If you want something different, bring

it.
We might impose on someone to stop by Hardees if wanted and they are willing
on Sunday morning.

The 10/40M positions will be networked together. I was listening to VP8KF
Sunday afternoon on 10M so there may be a little life there and or more
contacts
could be had by moving folks from other bands. After dark the position
will be put on 40M and used to run up and down the band working anyone new.

That's it for the moment

Comments?

Take care
cu/mya
