I just had a nice chat with Joel Hallas as he drove from his home to Newington, 
CT and the ARRL Headquarters.  Joel as you may recall is the author of the 
monthly article in QST entitled, "Getting on the Air".  He also does equipment 
reviews for the ARRL, the Omni VII being the one I remember first because I have 
one of those radios.   

I always enjoy reading his articles because, although they are really aimed more 
at new comers to the hobby, I find them well written and enlightening to well 
seasoned (48 years in the hobby) albeit technically challenged ham like me.  I 
find them easy to read and understand and a nice change from more technical 
articles which leave me scratching my head!

He's a good CW operator and a chat with him is very enjoyable.  You might look 
for him in the mornings on 40M as he does his commute twice each week.
