Thanks Puck,
But my station isn't what it should be or at least what I hoped it would be
by now. I have 3 towers but most of my antennas are ready to fall down or in
need of repair. The Hy-Gain TH-6 at 60 feet still works on 20 but not very
good on 15/10. The low band antennas are by far the best antennas I have
installed. For 160 I use a Inverted L with about 10,000 feet of radials. 80
and 40 are flat-top dipoles at 50 and 45 feet that work well. Most of the 15
meter contacts where made on the 40 dipole. Several beverages ranging from
450 feet to 700 for low band rx. I'm about the only ham in Farmville that's
active so its been tough to get help installing my new antennas. I have
quite a arsenal of antennas in hopes they'll go up oneday.
Here's my rate breakdown with best being 53 and 42 Q's an hour. I never
spend a lot of time trying to work a station. Run or keep moving. I usually
start at the bottom of the band and work stations as I go up the band and
when I find a clear spot I run'em until someone steals the frequency. Then
S&P until another clear frequency is found. Never ever spend a lot of time
trying to work a station, call a couple times then put them in memory and
come back. If running QRP call the strongest stations and wait for better
conditions to work the others. If running N1MM use the band map by using
Ctrl-Alt up or down arrow and you can cruise through the needed stations;
then come back to your CQ frequency with a Alt-Q. I used this while
operating PJ4E and it was awesome I could work a mult or two and never lose
my run frequency.
Puck you always do very well with the wire I afraid if you ever decide to
put up some aluminum I might have to fix my antennas. :)
73,
Kyle

Kyle was one of the big QRP signals. I'm constantly amazed at how well he
does with QRP. How about a run down on the WA4PGM antenna farm? Of course
he's an outstanding operator and could do well in a contest using a few
milliwatts to a wet noodle!

I started late, around midnight Saturday night, and quit early Sunday
evening
but managed to get in 16 hours operating time. 80M was excellent Saturday
night/Sunday morning and 20M was very good Sunday afternoon. I never could
get
much going on 40M for some reason. I took a listen on 15M but propagation
was
not very good and I mainly was hearing stations I'd already worked.
I had hoped to get a sweep but missed NT. I think I heard stations calling
one
on 15M Sunday afternoon but he was too weak to copy well enough here to try
a
QSO. Perhaps if I had a yagi I could have snagged him. Even so, getting 79
sections is a personal best as was the QSO total. I was going to stop at 600
QSO's but the 100,000 point plateau was just ahead so I kept plugging along
until that was realized.
I was amazed at the big signals coming from the many QRP stations I worked.
It
just goes to show we need to do more more with antennas before plunking down
the
bucks for a big amp.
I was very impressed with the performance of my new Omni VII. The close in
big
signals didn't seem to bother it one bit. This is one sweet radio!
CU in the next CW contest,
Puck, W4PM
