Subject: [Dx4win] Problem with Windows Vista

I just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate and I get the following error when
trying to start DX4WIN.

Error:
Please copy the driver file C:\Progam Files\dx4w702\DRIVERS\vichw11.sys
To: C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\vichw11.sys
The Appendix Files has more information about this.

I went to the folder where they wanted me to put the file and it already
existed with the same date and file size. I replaced it anyway and got the
same error.

I called Microsoft and the person I talked to, while helpful, couldn't
correct the problem. He told me the suspect file (vichw11.sys) was trying
to access the kernel within Windows. It was an acceptable practice for
XP/2000/98, etc to access the kernel but it isn't acceptable in Vista.

Unless someone knows something Microsoft doesn't, DX4WIN v7.02 won't work
with Vista unless/until an update is available.

I'm going to sit tight for a day or two and if I can't find a solution I
guess Vista is going to have to removed and I'll go back to XP.

Chris, K4KW
