05/01/2006:  Here is an update on the DXpedition to the Philippine
Kalayaan Island, Spratly Islands (IOTA AS-051) which was originally
scheduled to take place in the December 2005 time frame. The target
dates are now January 5-19, with special call DX0A. 4F2KWT, Gil, says
"Focus will be the low bands and targeting the East Coast of North
America." Equipment will include FT1000MPs, kilowatt solid state
amplifies, which will be powered by two Honda generators. They will have
phased verticals. The team will also be QRV on the high bands, including
WSJT on 6 meters EME. One of the ops will be N0NM (DU9/N0NM), Jon, a low
band expert. This one is still in the development stage. [Tnx SM7AED]

05/01/2006:  Richard, G3CWI/p, will be active January 5th from Bardon
Hill (SOTA G/CE-004, 278M), Central England region, starting around
11:30 UTC. Activity will be on 7.030 MHz CW only. QSL via home call.

05/01/2006:  Ilya, UA0FBS, is now active until January 31st everyday
from 05:00 to 07:00 UTC on 14180 kHz from the City of Poronajsk (RDA
SL-07 for the Russian districts award), Sakhalin Island (IOTA AS-018),

05/01/2006:  Pavel RZ3FR, is now active until January 6th as UE3DDX/3
from Suzdal' City (RDA VL-11, for the Russian Districts Award) and the
Vjaznikovsky area (RDA VL-17), Vladimirskaya oblast (VL). QSL via RZ3FR,

05/01/2006:  Special event station UE9FPK will be active January 5-7th
from the following locations for the Russian districts award (RDA):
January 5th from the Bardymsky area (RDA PM-20) and the Osinsky area
(RDA PM-36); January 6th from the Lys'vensky area (RDA PM-32); and
January 7th from the Chernushinsky area (RDA PM-47), Permskaya oblast

R1SNG/m from Vologda City (RDA VO-01), the Vologodsky area (RDA VO-12),
the Sokol'sky (RDA VO-21), Sokol (RDA VO-03) and the Ust'-kubinski area
(RDA VO-25), Vologodskaya oblast (VO). The operator will be YL Rimma

06/01/2006:  Team RW3WWW will be active January 6-8th as UE3WRC from the
Ryl'sky area (RDA reference KU-27 for the Russian districts award) and

07/01/2006:  Juan, F5IRC/p, will activate the Castle of Melamare (DFCF
reference 76-058, for the French castles award), on January 7th, located
in the commune of Melamare (DDCF 7633, Zip Code CP 76170), Department
76. He also plans to reactivate the Mill of Melamare (DMF reference
76-004, for the French mills award). Look for activity on 40 meter SSB

07/01/2006:  F5JNE (Francois) and F6ICG (Gerard) will be active January
7th as F5JNE/p from the Castle of La Riviere [Owner's name] (DFCF
reference 58-074 for the French castles award), in the City of Couloutre
(Zip Code 58220) in the Nievre Department (58), Canton of Donzy (DCF
5809), Province of Burgundy. Activity will be on 40 meter CW and SSB,
starting around 07:00 UTC. QSL via F5JNE, bureau preferred, SWL cards

07/01/2006:  Patrick, F8DYD/p, will be QRV January 7th from La Tour du
Cordier (DFCF reference 86-022 for the French castles award) located in
the City of Poitiers (Zip Code 86000) and county (DCF 86-22). Activity
will be on 40 and 20 meters, propagation permitting. QSL via home call,

07/01/2006:  A group of operators associated with Radio-Noticias
magazine (www.radionoticias.com) will be active from various locations
in Western Sahara January 7-13th. They plan to operate SSB on 3675,
7085, 14310, 21175 and 28975 kHz. QSL via operators' instructions. [Tnx

07/01/2006:  Peter, NO2R, will be returning to Sihanoukville, Cambodia,
again and should be on the air as XU7ACY from January 7-21st. Activity
will be mainly on CW (with some SSB) on 160, 80 and 40 meters. QSL via

08/01/2006:  Look for Lee, M0LMP/p, to be active January 8th from
Helvellyn summit (SOTA G/LD-003, 950M), Lake District region, for the
Summits On The Air award. Activity will be on 7.125 MHz SSB, 145.500 MHz
and 1297.500 MHz FM. QSL via home call, direct or bureau. [Tnx SOTA

08/01/2006:  Members of the Mid Florida DX Association will activate
Honeymoon Island (IOTA NA-034, USI FL-017S, Pinellas county), Florida,
in the Gulf of Mexico on January 8th. They will be using a yagi and
verticals. The club callsign, W4FDX will be used. This is a one day
operation (Sunday). Bands will be 20 meters and 15 meters and maybe 17
meters (depending on propagation) and the IOTA frequencies will be used
+/- QRM. QSL via W2NDP with SASE. [Tnx W2NDP]

09/01/2006:  Trond, LA9VDA, will once again travel to Svalbard
(Spitsbergen Island - IOTA EU-026) and be active as JW9VDA from January
9-16th. His activity will be on all bands, mostly CW and SSB. This
operation will be good for a brand new WLOTA JW-0125 reference number.
QSL direct to: Trond Johannessen, Helgedalen 13, N-1528 Moss, Norway.
Please include a self-addressed envelope (SAE) and sufficient return
postage. For postage to Europe and the rest of the world, 1 USD is not

11/01/2006:  Bob, W3BTX, and Roy, W3TEF, will be active from the island
of Aruba (IOTA SA-036) as P40/homecall from January 11-18th. They will
be operating all bands, but will concentrate on 30 and 6 meters. QSL via

11/01/2006:  Art, NN7A, will operate as V31JZ/p from South Water Caye
(IOTA NA-180), Belize, January 11-15th. This will be a one-person
operation with 100 watts and vertical and wire antennas. Operation will
be CW on 40-10 meters, WARC bands included; some 80 meter and 160 meter.
Some SSB on 20 meters and 15 meters, IOTA frequencies is possible,
conditions permitting. This will be Art's 6th operation from South Water
Caye, and his 12th trip to Belize since 1988. QSL direct via NN7A (Art
Phillips, P.O. Box 201, Flagstaff, AZ 86002 USA), or to NN7A via the
ARRL bureau. No skeds, please. There will be no on-line logs, and e-mail

13/01/2006:  Ken, WB2ART, will be active on the Island of St. Croix, US
Virgin Islands (IOTA NA-106), January 13-21st. Activity will be (mostly)
PSK31 on 20 meters, but he can operate any band 40-10 meters. This
activity will also count for the St. Croix Island lighthouse (WLOTA

LOOKING AHEAD -

18/01/2006:  Tibi HA7TM and his xyl will be on the road again on this
month. They will be active as HA7TM/HI9 from HI9CF's QTH located at Las
Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic (IOTA NA-096) from January 18th to
February 2nd. Tibi will be operating an Icom IC-706 at 100 watts to a 7
element log periodic yagi, rotary dipole for 40m and FD4 multiband wire
antenna (perhaps a dipole for 160m, it depends on the local situation).

20/01/2006:  Herm CT3FN and Rudi CT3/HB9CQL will be QRV January 20th to
February 1st from Madeira Island (IOTA AF-014, DIP MA-001). Activity
will be on all bands and modes. On January 21st and 22nd, Herm will
operate as CT3FN/p from the São Jorge/Rosais lighthouse located on the
north coast of Madeira Island (ARLHS MAD-008, also count for WLOTA
LH-0053), from inside the lighthouse. QSL via home calls, direct or

20/01/2006:  Look for Paul F6EXV (MU0EXV) and Jan DJ8NK (GU0VNK) to be
QRV January 20-30th from the Bailiwick of Guernsey (IOTA EU-114).
Activity will be on 160-10 meter SSB, CW and digital modes. QSL via
their home calls (QRZ.com addresses). This activity will also count for

21/01/2006:  Jose, N4BAA (KG4SB) and Bill, W4WV (KG4WV) will be active
from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (IOTA NA-015), January 21-31st. Activity will
be on all bands 160-6 meters. Jose (KG4SB) will also participate in the
CQ 160-Meter Contest (January 28-29th), no category given. QSL via their

28/01/2006:  If you are missing HB0 on 160 meters, look for T93M, T93Y,
T94DX (DJ2MX) and T94JJ (OE1EMS) to be active as HB0/T94DX from
Liechtenstein during the next CQ 160 meter contest (January 28-29,

03/02/2006:  There will be an activity carried out to celebrate the 10th
anniversary of the Ukrainian Antarctic station, the Academic Vernadsky,
in Antarctica, which was officially opened the 7th of February 1996. For
this event a special callsign has been issued by the Ukrainian
authorities. EM10KY (op. Paul UT1KY-EM1KY). Date of activation: February
3 - 12, 2006. QSL manager: IK1QFM direct or bureau. Being a Special
Event to celebrate Antarctica, EM10KY will be referenced for WAP as

04/03/2006:  Manny, NP2KW, will be active from the U.S. Virgin Islands
(IOTA NA-106) in the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 4-5th) as a
Single-Operator/All-Band/Low-Power entry. He will be operating from the
highest peak (1045 feet) on the island of St. Croix, with a G5RV and

04/03/2006:  Look for Urcun, TA0U, to be active from Turkey in the ARRL
DX SSB Contest (March 4-5th) as a Single-Operator/Single-Band (20 meter)

13/05/2006:  Tom, DL7UZO, will be active as OZ/DL7UZO from the Jylland
North Group (IOTA EU-171) from May 13-20th. Activity will be CW, SSB,
PSK31, RTTY and WSJT on 80-10 meters, including the WARC bands, 50 MHz

08/06/2006:  Jon, N0JK, will be active as VP9/N0JK from the island of
Bermuda (IOTA NA-005) June 8-12th. A serious entry in the 2006 ARRL June

of the contest he will focus on working Europe. QSL via home call

21/07/2006:  Rolf, DK2ZF, will be active as ES/DK2ZF from the island of
Saaremaa (IOTA EU-034), Estonia, between July 21st and August 3rd.

29/07/2006:  Tim ON5HC and Jurgen, ON5MF plan to be active as F/ON5HC/p
