Gentlemen,

Last night, during a QSO on 160M with W4DHA, my TS-850S dropped out
all-of-a-sudden.  I lost all output to the AL-80B, and it seemed to me that
the 3-500Z glowed a lot brighter than previously noticed.  I was driving it
with 100W, but that never seemed to bother it before.  I noticed a smell
suggestive of solid-state trouble, but I couldn't tell if it came from the
rig or the amp.

I don't know very much about these rigs, except to suspect that the problem
seems to be in the final.

Do any of you know of someone locally who works on these rigs?  The thought
of sending it off to the Kenwood Service Center chills my bones...
