Good Morning GNARC an SARA Members,

For those of you who know Mark Floyd, N1CT.  Mark is having open heart
surgery in Bridgeport Hospital this morning.
Several weeks ago he experienced a cardiac episode and was told that he
needed a heart valve replacement, a pacemaker and that they needed to
repair an aneurysm on his aorta.

I am in touch with his wife Wendy and I will let everyone know if I hear
any updates.

Hello SARA members,
We are pleased to announce that we had four test candidates show up for SaturdaysVE exam session at the Stamford Government Center.
Three had made reservations for the test session, and one was a walk-in.
All 4 passed their license exams.
Two candidates passed the Technician's test, and another candidate upgraded from Tech to General.
Special congratulations go to new SARA club member Maurice Miller, who is a long-time ham who had his call expire.He passed all three exam elements to accomplish his goal of becoming an Extra class operator.
I would like to thank Steve, Chet, Phil, Ernest, and Stan for assisting me in running my first exam sessionas the club's new VE Liasion.

Congratulations to all the successful test candidates.

GNARC is pleased to announce that we will be holding a General Class
license course in Norwalk starting on Thursday April 4.

The class will run for nine (9) consecutive Thursday nights from 7pm to
about 9:15pm.  At the end of the course we will hold a VE session.

The class will be taught from the ARRL General Class License Manual,
8th Edition.

Does anyone have a copy of the HF TRIBANDER PERFORMANCE: Test methods and results book, written by K7lxc and N0AX?
I would like to review it, but not fond of paying $20 for a hard copy, since there is no .pdf version of it that I am aware off.

It is very likely the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Emergency Communications Division (formerly Office of Emergency Communications-OEC) ?will be conducting two Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOM) Training Classes in the
 State of Connecticut. This class is designed for auxiliary communicators and groups who volunteer to provide back up radio communications? support to public safety agencies. ?

One of our newest SARA members, Maurice Miller, has just passed his Extra exam, and been assigned thecall sign AC1HF.? We would like to congratulate him on his achievement of getting re-licensed after several 
years of inactivity.

Maurice is now working to bring his Hammarlund HQ180 back to life after several years of idle time.
He is looking to borrow a tube tester to go through all the tubes.
Can anybody help him out?

Maurice is reporting that when he turned on the rig on after multiple years of idle time, all the tubes feel warm 
from the filament heat, but he's getting zero audio output.
I know the GNARC gang includes some boat anchor restoration aficionados, so do any you guys have experienceworking on a Hammarlund HQ180 and bringing it back to life?

Subject: [CTSARA] Ham Radio General Class License Course In Norwalk

A reminder that GNARC will be holding a General Class license course in
Norwalk starting on Thursday April 4.  The class will run for nine (9)
consecutive Thursday nights from 7pm to about 9:15pm.  At the end of the
course we will hold a VE session.

The class will be held at the Norwalk Fire Maintenance facility at 100
Fairfield Ave in Norwalk.

   - From I-95 Northbound, exit at Exit 14, right turn at top of ramp and
   then immediate right turn into the parking lot.
   - From I-95 Southbound, exit at Exit 14, then right turn onto Rt. 1.  Go
   three traffic lights (past the Volk Central Fire Station) to Fairfield Ave
   and turn right.  Go over the I-95 overpass, past the I-95 exit ramp, and
   then right turn into the parking lot.
   - From Rt. 7 South - follow to I-95 South, then exit at I-95 Exit 14 and
   follow directions above.


The class will be taught from the ARRL General Class License Manual,
8th Edition.  The class will be run by Paul W1IP (formerly WB2JBV) and Jon
AI1V.
