[CTSARA] Ham Radio General Class License Course In Norwalk

A reminder that GNARC is holding a General Class license course in
Norwalk. The class will run for nine (9) consecutive Thursday nights from
7pm to about 9:15pm. At the end of the course we will hold a VE session.
The class will be held at the Norwalk Fire Maintenance facility at 100
Fairfield Ave in Norwalk.
- From I-95 Northbound, exit at Exit 14, right turn at top of ramp and
then immediate right turn into the parking lot.
- From I-95 Southbound, exit at Exit 14, then right turn onto Rt. 1. Go
three traffic lights (past the Volk Central Fire Station) to Fairfield Ave
and turn right. Go over the I-95 overpass, past the I-95 exit ramp, and
then right turn into the parking lot.
- From Rt. 7 South - follow to I-95 South, then exit at I-95 Exit 14 and
follow directions above.
The class will be taught from the ARRL General Class License Manual,
8th Edition. The class will be run by Paul W1IP (formerly WB2JBV) and Jon
AI1V. The schedule for classes is:
- 4/4 Chapters 1&2 - Overview of General Privileges, Responsibilities
and Practices
- 4/11 Chapter 3 - Rules and Regs
- 4/18 Chapter 4 - Electronics and Circuits, AC Power, Components,
Reactance and Impedance
- 4/25 Chapter 5 - HF Radio Design and Structure
- 5/2 Chapter 6 - Digital Modes
- 5/9 Chapter 7 - Antennas and Feedlines
- 5/16 Chapter 8 - Atmospherics and Propagation
- 5/23 Chapter 9 - Electrical and RF Safety
- 5/30 REVIEW
June 1 - VE Exam at GNARC in Norwalk
It is still worth coming even if you missed Chapters 1&2 because the bulk
of the material, and the hard material, is still ahead of us.
