I have for sale, from an SK, a very nice Icom IC-751a HF transceiver. This
radio works well, I have tested it and made some 40m QSOs. Of course you are
welcome to come test it at the GNARC comm center.

 

This would be a nice, classic,  rig for a new general! Lots of features, has
two extra filters installed as well. See photos.  Also includes a general
coverage receiver!

 

I would much rather sell it to someone locally than on Ebay.

Here is the blurb from Icom back in the day:

The Icom IC-751A is an advanced transceiver covering 160 to 10 meters. It
features a high performance 100 kHz to 30 MHz general coverage receiver
built in. Output is 10 to 100 watts SSB/CW/RTTY/FM modes (10 to 40 watts
AM). The 751A has sophisticated capabilities such as:  dual digital VFOs,
all-mode squelch, Notch, Passband Tuning, RIT/XIT and attenuator. You also
get 32 memories. The two color fluorescent digital display is easy to read.
Serious CW operators will appreciate the built-in electronic keyer, standard
FL-32A 500 Hz CW filter, sidetone, plus full and semi break-in capability.
The rear panel has an SO-239 antenna jack plus a receive only RCA phono
jack. This radio requires 13.8 VDC at 20 Amps.

The American Parkinson Disease Foundation is holding a fund raiser on Oct 6
at Sherwood Island State Park.

Part of the fundraiser will be a 1.5 mile walk for people suffering from
Parkinson's.  For many who suffer from Parkinson's, a 1.5 mile walk IS the
equivalent of running a marathon.  They will need people watching over them
and communicators who can get help to them if they run into trouble.

We are looking for 3-4 people to provide communications along the walk from
about 10:30am to about noon.  You will be on your feet the entire time
patrolling a section of the route (much like we do at marathons).  There
will be a free pizza lunch after the walk.

We do understand that there is a SET exercise that day.  Since you wouldn't
have to be at Sherwood Island until about 10:30am you would have plenty of
time to check in to a net or two and then head over to Sherwood Island.
Also, the Norwalk analog repeater as well as Wilton and Bridgeport DMR
repeaters are accessible from Sherwood Island, so you could even
participate in the SET from there while waiting for the walk to start.

Parkinson's is an especially tough disease because it is a long, slow,
chronic, progressive disease that robs you of your ability to perform
common activities like walk, sit up, feed yourself, carry on conversations,
do anything useful with your limbs and hands.  One of the worst parts of
the disease is the non-motor symptoms it causes such as anxiety,
depression, and fatigue.  Please give us an hour and a half on Sat Oct 6.

If you are interested, please reply directly to me.  Because it covers a
small area without complicated communications, this is an ideal opportunity
for relatively new hams to get some experience in public service events.
If you know someone who is not on one of these reflectors, please forward
this message to them.
