ConnJam 2018 (Saturday, May 12)

Join us in Orange at the Boy Scout of America - Connecticut Yankee Council’s biggest youth event of the year.  

>From May 11 – 13, 2018 CT Yankee Council will hold a Council Wide Camporee, ConnJam18. This even happens once every 3 years, and attracts between 3,000 – 5,000 scouts from both in our local council and outside of our council.  

This is an excellent opportunity to “Share The Magic” of Radio Scouting with youngsters eager to learn and experience new things. 
- It also is a great way to show-case Amateur Radio to Adult Scout Leaders.

Since ConnJam 2015 (our first experience), many scouts have moved on in their lives and a whole crop of new Scouts have entered the ranks. 
This year, on Saturday, May 12, we are looking for about 30 volunteers to come out to Work in teams at the Amateur Radio activity stations.
- Full Day or Half Day Shifts are available

Specifically, we are looking for folks to help with:

The Radiogram Message Center
- Put your NTS Traffic Handling skills into action

Morse Code Central 
- Teach Scouts how to send their name in Morse Code

Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF)
- Introduce Cub Scouts to ARDF and help them find the lost Ewok (err… hidden transmitter)

RMS Express Communications
- Get scouts involved (Hands On) using wireless digital communications (2 stations needed)

Information Booth
- Speak with visitors about Amateur Radio opportunities in Scouting (i.e. “Radio Scouting”)   

GOTA (Get On The Air) Stations
- Get Scouts "On The Air" having a "conversation" - NOT a Contest Contact
