Good afternoon fellow Hams,

As I have been doing for the past several years, I will be running Special
Events Station N1F from December 20, 2018 - January 3, 2019.

This is my traditional spoof on the Seinfeld holiday of Festivus.  The
Special Event is not affiliated with GNARC or SARA, BUT, as usual, if
anyone would like to run the special events call at their station please
contact me and I will tell you the rules.

Last year we had 7 operators, operating from their homes and we made over
375 contact (which we do QSL)

It's a lot of fun !

2018 Annual Report and 2019 Dues NoticeFrom the President, Steve Urso, KB1YLQ:?As the year comes to an end, we look forward to what awaits us in 2019. In this age of electronic and social media, hard copy has become a thing of the past. How many of you still use paper logs? As president, I am working on finding ways to include the scope and feel of our meetings, and general club information, in the new electronic formats. With that in mind, I would like to actively solicit ideas from you, the membership, as to how to improve our external club communications.The Year in Review:The 2018 SARA club officers elected by the membership in January were Steve Urso, President, Terry Martin, Vice President, Andy Siegel, Secretary, Ernest Laug, Treasurer, Fred Cunningham, Program Director, John Sabini, Website Maintainer, and Terry Papazidis, Director-at-Large. In addition, Chester Piorkowski was voted in as an additional Director-at-Large by the new board at its January meeting. I would like to personally thank them all for their efforts on behalf of the club this year.I would especially like to thank Ernest Laug for his 14 years of service as the club?s Treasurer, as he will be retiring from that position at the end of this year, and staying on to serve a board member. ?I also want to extend my gratitude to Andy Siegel for serving as the club?s secretary since 2013, and wish him well in his retirement.We had a busy 2018. We should all be proud of the SARA membership for their participation and support. Highlights of the year include:Continued updates to our SARA website and Facebook page, along with a new presence on Twitter, to modernize our look. ?Please take some time to check them out.
Our efforts at supporting various charitable, public service and CERT events continued this year,including Hope in Motion, and the Bloomin Metric, as well as some CERT-specific activities. 
SARA?s ?2018 Field Day, which was a scaled-down operation this year due to construction up at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and was nonetheless a very enjoyable and successful effort. Terry Martin acted as Field Day Captain once again.
We entered in the 2A category this year, and are happy to report that we finished with 6,588 points, based on 1,972 contacts, which was good enough for 19th place out of 328 entries in the 2A category. ?We also finished 122nd out of 2,902 entries nationwide, which puts in the top 5% of club scores in the US. ?All-in-all, we are very happy to have placed as high we did, based on the challenges we faced.
Membership Renewal for 2019We look forward to your membership renewal and participation in the coming year, and hope to have programs involving various topics of interest at our regular monthly meetings. We stand ready to "Elmer" members in putting up antennas, equipment selection and operating procedures for getting on the air and making contacts near and far.Membership is open to all licensed hams. Dues is $25 for the year, which includes membership for you and your immediate family. Dues are $10 for matriculated students and hams that live outside a 50 mile radius of Stamford. Your dues money pays the costs associated with our website, business registration and taxes, mailing list, insurance, operation of 3 repeaters at two sites plus their care and maintenance, and Field Day operation, including equipment, supplies, and meals. Over the years, many members have included a tax-deductible donation along with their required dues, and that is always appreciated.You can register for membership online using PayPal at?http://ctsara.org/membership. You do not need a Paypal account to do so. ?The new website's membership page is not quite as streamlined as last year's, but it gets you 90% of the way there.
