GFARA meeting April 3rd at the Fairfield Police Station. Social from 7:00 to 7:30. Coffee, desert and time to talk Ham. Meeting starts at 7:30pm.
Dr. Gary Weddle, W1GHW, will be our guest speaker this month. With the advent of the Internet and computers many new forms of communication have arisen that exploit the use of analog to digital and digital to analog conversion. The Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) appeared soon after and ushered into the hobby the modes of IRLP, D-Star, Allstar and most recently DMR. Gary will present some of the history of Allstar radio with details of its application to repeater operation and construction of a portable simplex micro node.
