 A new year and a new meeting place. All future monthly meeting and Saturday meeting will be at the Fairfield Marina. Look for the building at the far end of the parking with the Coast Guard Auxiliary signs on the building. There is no change in the meeting time -Social 7:00 to 7:30 meeting starts at 7:30 pm.Our speaker this month will be Larry Reed, AB1JC. Larry tell us how Ham Radio played a major role in 4 balloon launches including the recent eclipse launching.We had FOUR balloon launches in 2017!  These were hosted by the Discovery Museum and the University of Bridgeport and supported by GBARC personnel.  Two launches were local in Connecticut and involved some very tricky recovery operations(!).  We drove to Kentucky in August and launched a balloon and 4 radiosondes during the total eclipse.  In September, we had a payload on a LARGE NASA balloon launch from Ft. Sumner, NM that went 600 miles and spent over 12 hours above 100,000 feet.  Pictures and movies!Larry Reed, AB1JC, is a retired Electrical Engineer. He worked 40 years in the business, most recently 28 years for Northrop Grumman (Norden Systems, Norwalk) in Airborne Radar, designing beam-steering computers for Active Electronically-Steered Antennas.  He got his Extra Ticket in 2008 and is now a member of the Greater Bridgeport Amateur
