[CTSARA] TS Hermine - Lower Dipoles or Not?

Current forecast is for winds to pick up later today (Sat) but only to the
10-20 mph range, with winds picking up sharply tomorrow (Sunday)
afternoon/evening into the 25-39 mph range with gusts up to 59 mph.
Timing is really a question. The current forecast is based on the storm
slowing its forward movement due to high pressure over New England.
HOWEVER, ocean waters off DE/MD/NJ are at record high temperatures which
will give strength back to the storm, possibly allowing it to push through
the high and hit us sooner than currently forecasted. It is even possible
that it will turn into a full hurricane while it is off the DE/MD/NJ shore.
Present forecasts indicate this will be more of a wind event than a rain
event for us in southwestern CT, except for those right at the shoreline
who may experience some flooding. Again though, these record high ocean
water temperatures are an unknown. If the storm strengthens, it could
cause extensive rain in the area Sunday, Monday and on into the middle of
the week. That could also give us winds in the full tropical storm range
(sustained winds of 40 to 73 mph).
By the way, the storm is expected to hang around off the DE/MD/NJ shore
through the middle of the week. If you have property along the NJ shore,
you could be in deep trouble. If you have relatives/friends/acquaintances
who live at the DE/MD/NJ shore, you should be encouraging them to depart
the area. Damage along the DE/MD/NJ shore could be as bad as what they had
from Sandy.
