MARS - the Military Auxiliary Radio Service - is holding an exercise Sunday
thru Tuesday.
As part of that exercise, selected MARS stations will be broadcasting in
high power on 60 meters Channel 1 to see how much coverage of the
continental US they can get on 60 meters - the idea being to use 60 meters
as a national calling frequency in case of a massive denial of
communications attack (landline, cellphone, and internet outage).
The broadcasts will take place tonight (Sunday 10/30) at from 11PM to
Midnight eastern time on Channel 1 - dial frequency 5330.5 KHz USB (5.3305
MHz).
They are asking for hams to listen to that frequency and file a spotting
report at the following website
http://www.usarmymars.org/home/dod-special-event-qsl-report
They will send QSLs for those who enter a spotting report.
This is one-way comms only, please do not reply to their broadcasts.
