*Friday, Oct. 7, 2016*
*Good Morning!*We are just ONE WEEK away from *Boy Scouts* *J*amboree *O*n
*T*he *A*ir (JOTA) 2016.
This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to SHOW KIDS HAM RADIO!
We have *3 Boy Scout sites* (BELOW) that still need additional volunteers
to either bring an extra station and/or help operate or present a quick Top
Level (non-technical) overview about Ham Radio to build excitement about
all the fun things we can do.
Each QTH is expecting between *200 and 250 scouts*… PLUS Adults.
*Your help* is needed to provide enough stations with HF/VHF/UFH (and if
you have it: HF digital, DMR, APRS) to give each scout time to have a
conversation “On The Air”.
If you are able to “*come out to play*” next week (on Saturday, Oct. 15),
please select which one you’d like to be at and *email the CONTACT person*
for that site ASASP.
*Youth Protection Training*
Also, BSA has gotten serious about having *all volunteers* going through
their *40 minute* On-Line Youth Protection Training Course.
This is a *BIG DEAL *in Boy Scouts, and *we need to participate* in this
training.
While it is not rocket science, it does bring up key issues that BSA wants
all its volunteers understand and guard against.
Please use a long "coffee break" in the next few days to do this training
*. *- Print a copy of the certificate, *bring it with you on Saturday* to
give to George or Dana, or me.
*Go to : http://www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx
<http://www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx>*
Read and follow the instructions in the *Right Column* on how to create an
account and password to take the training.
- Don’t waste time on the video in the middle of the page.
