All,

I've received quite a bit of feedback from people about my maps, and I
figure instead of answering the same questions individually I'd just let
everyone know.

On the bottom slider: LEFT 440.76 is the Wilton repeater. MIDDLE 440.97 is
Danbury. RIGHT 445.75 is New Milford. Yes, I realize that those frequencies
aren't quite right. Yes, I know the page is broken.

Red indicates strongest signal strength, orange is a strong signal, yellow
is medium signal strength, and green is low signal strength. Unfortunately,
the map makes it look like all of the repeaters can be heard at all times.
There are a number of reasons why this happened. Some I confirmed, some I
have hypothesized. The end result is that it's a $20 dongle and there's
only so much you can do to make it pretend to be a piece of real test
equipment.

For anyone wanting to try this themselves the link was included in the
previous email. The original project is at
http://www.tautology2.net/heatmap/. From there, you can click on the github
https://github.com/ati/heatmap. If you use this yourself just remember that
you need to change the API key to your own.

There's also a link on that page where you can upload your own data, and it
will crunch the numbers for you. However, that is only good for looking at
one frequency at a time, and since the data I collected was for 440-449MHz
all it showed was red (since there was always a strong signal somewhere in
the 9MHz).

Sam - NV1P
