Photos of the setup are available for those interested. :-) Just in case: 146.475 +1MHz. Actually they have been with always. Many of these claims actually preceded Obama and many are the result of Bush policies. The greatest danger to this country is the ignorance that these claims show. When I was a freshman I had to read Thucydides. At that time I thought it was the most soporific book ever written. Recently I have come to appreciate it. Athens fell to Sparta in part because the Athenians listened to soothsayers and demagogues . Trump is the intellectual reincarnation of one of those demagogues.. We are at a point where the application of reason is our and the world's only hope of salvation. Global warming is real and we have to transition away from fossil fuel as soon as possible. We have kicked the can down the road to the edge of a cliff. Trump appears to have no understanding of macroeconomics. How he got his degree is a mystery and may account for his reluctance to release his transcript. He is a textbook example of a narcissistic sociopath. The GNARC trailer will be there for those who have not seen it. Plenty of space to operate portable if you want to bring a radio & tactical antenna. (No Beams, Quads, or Gas Bags Please.) And of course Toy will be the master of ceremonies for the raffle! Bring any gear you wish to sell, there is room to Tail Gate. As one might say?.?Its gonna be huuuuuuge?. That's probably why you haven't heard or read much for me lately. But the good news is, perhaps, it might be coming off tomorrow, although I suspect I will be in a soft cast for about another month or so. That is not really the reason for my email. There are really two questions that I have for the group. 1) where the heck is the 2 m repeater? Going by my rotator. It appears to be almost due north of me. From Trumbull that seems ridiculous. I suspect it's bouncing off of something. But if I point directly towards Stamford. I am a almost impossible to pick it up, even using 100 watts. 2) There were a number of people who asked if I would be willing to give a class on Buddipoles. I will not say that I am an expert at it, but I have been very happy using it for about 10 years now. My Elmer in California said that I was a living example you can do anything with nothing. Not so sure I agree with that. However, I do really like the Buddipole and I would be very willing to put on a presentation about it. It would be a hands-on presentation and we would need to be able to do it outside. But I really would like to do this. With regards to my first question if someone can assist me some afternoon by giving me some signal reports into the repeater there would be a very big help. Sincerely, Emily - N1DID PS-I had a wonderful time at field day and thank you all for your help and support for the newbie ------------ If you lie down with dogs don't complain you got fleas... What they have so far: He has an IG class license (Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional). His license is assigned ten frequencies - four VHF business band, six UHF business band - for operation within a 32KM (19.6 mile) radius of his base at 28 North Spring Street Ansonia. 28 North Spring Street is listed as his base location and not just as his control point. At least half the invoices he sent out went to people who are located outside that radius, which means that we wouldn't be able to use "his" frequencies even if we wanted to. His license filing says "WE WORK WITH OUR COMMUNITY, EMS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND MUNICIPALITIES", but he doesn't seem to have a business underway other than that - or at least nothing that anybody can find. He has a number of cancelled FCC licenses for Business and GMRS operations. His antenna at 28 North Spring is mounted to the front of the building so that the antenna protrudes a whole 0.9 meter above the top of the house (according to his FCC license). Between that and the hill directly behind his QTH, his coverage area is pretty poor. Someone on RadioReference did a propagation map and it's funny. You can see it at http://forums. radioreference.com/connecticut-radio-discussion-forum/338390-beware- connecticut-emergency-network.html He has a personal Facebook page as Alan Robert Halat. There is also a Facebook page for Connecticut Emergency Network with about three entries - one of which repeats the same "WE WORK WITH OUR COMMUNITY, EMS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND MUNICIPALITIES" stuff, one of which lists some equipment for sale, and one of which shares a Facebook post about the Facebook Safety Check feature. There is also a Google+ page for Connecticut Emergency Network. May even be on Twitter. Oh, and he's a Universal Life Church minister. A couple of people from the New Haven area are planning on paying him a visit. 73 Jon, WB2RYV P.S. If you Google Map the street address (or Bing Map or Mapquest Map), it shows an empty lot. That's an error by the online maps - the Ansonia Assessor's office shows that 28 North Spring is the building that the online maps identify as 20 North Spring. At the present time, this is preliminary and the details will be forthcoming, depending on turnout.
