The equipment is in lower Manhattan (Chinatown area). I don't know the woman who is selling the equipment so caveat emptor but good deals might be had if someone is interested. There is a Robert Kruter (KD2HKK) listed on QRZ. ***** Good evening. My name is Connie Carter-Kruter. My husband Robert is recently deceased. He was new to Amateur Radio and only recently got his license and purchased his equipment. I find myself left with the following equipment - all almost new - YAESU FTDX-1200 HF/6M All Mode radio (one-year extended warranty) - MFJ-266C HF/VHF/220MHz Antenna Analyzer - MFJ Versa Tuner III - MFJ-962D 1.5 KW Roller Inductor Antenna Tuner - BUDDIPOLE antenna - MFJ-1622 window mount antenna The radio originally cost $1369, the warranty was $99, the Buddipole was $199, and the window mount antenna was $99. These items were all purchased in October 2014 and used maybe twice. I can be reached via email (ConnieC393 at aol.com) or on my cell 917-847-9809. The start time will be around 7am (0700 hrs) and we can expect to be operating until about 2pm (1400 hrs) with some people shutting down by 1pm (1300 hrs) and a few hanging on until about 3pm (1500 hrs). SARA and GNARC have always provided support for the Bloomin, and I hope that Fairfield will join us this year. The Bloomin Metric will have over 2500 registered riders and raises funds for a number of charities in southwestern CT including the Bennett Cancer Center/Stamford Hospital Hope In Motion event. The Hope In Motion event was merged into the Bloomin Metric last year in part through our (ham radio) efforts and Hope In Motion was able to net considerably more from bicycle riding than it had been able to net operating on its own. Coverage of the Bloomin is a joint project of the clubs in the area. We are going to need at least 15 operators total, so please do what you can to participate. If you can't participate from 7am to 2pm, please contact me because we can probably accommodate you for whatever hours you can give us. Last year we did some interesting technology stuff with an on-the-fly cross-band repeater and this year we going to try to incorporate DMR into our toolkit. Many of the coverage positions will be mobile in vehicles supplied by the event - so the people providing mobile support will need to be able to move their radio and antenna into/onto the event vehicles. All mobile stations will need at least 25 watts (50 watt radios preferred) with externally mounted 1/4 wave or 1/2 wave antennas (mag mount). People at the rest stops will need at least 25 watt radios with decent antennas - for example, something mounted on your car. We have some spare radios between the two clubs, so if all you have is an HT but want to participate, we may be able to arrange it. Please contact me ASAP if you would like to participate. 73s Jon, WB2RYV From wb1grb at hotmail.com Thu May 7 14:32:38 2015 From: wb1grb at hotmail.com (John Sabini Jr.) Date: Thu, 7 May 2015 14:32:38 -0400 Subject: [CTSARA] Connect Systems update (DMR) Message-ID: Connect Systems update UPGRADING CS700 TO CS700A AND UPGRADING CS700 TO the new CS750 http://www.connectsystems.com/ J/S WB1GRB From wb1grb at hotmail.com Fri May 8 05:47:36 2015 From: wb1grb at hotmail.com (John Sabini Jr.) Date: Fri, 8 May 2015 05:47:36 -0400 Subject: [CTSARA] SARA web site has been updated Message-ID: The SARA web site has been updated. http://www.ctsara.org/ Jon, WB2RYV gave a program on DMR in depth, based on experience gained. We fielded 21 radio operators to provide communications for net control, rest areas/food stops, SAG (support and gear) wagons, and "scout" cars, as well as staffing the telephone help lines for the riders. Net control had full dispatch authority over the vehicles, and the vehicles handled 53 response calls ranging from assistance with flat tires to more serious injury issues. In addition, the vehicles provided information to event management and local police as to location and density of riders along the routes. In order to provide communications over all three routes (40KM, 75KM, 100KM), we set up a temporary cross-band repeater to relay comms from the northern end of the course back to the main repeater located close the southern end of the course. This was the 38th annual Bloomin Metric, and ham radio has been associated with it for almost 20 years.
