Dear Fellow Hams,

Heard of ARES?  No, not the Greek god of war.

 It's the Amateur Radio Emergency Service.

Please join us on Wednesday, March 4th on the second floor of the Fairfield
Police Department,  Reef Road in Fairfield at 7:30 pm as Paul WB2JVB
discusses ARES in Connecticut.  He will describe how ARES serves our area
and how we as hams can get involved.

Paul is the district emergency coordinator for ARES region 1 in
Connecticut.  Joining him at the presentation will be Wayne N1CLV, the
Section Emergency Coordinator of all of ARES in Connecticut.

Paul will provide a nice overview of ARES from Digital Mobile Radio (DMR),
public service opportunities, HF go kits, nets and relationships with
groups such as the Red Cross.

Actively serving the public during emergencies is a cornerstone of the
frequency allocation justification for hams so please take this opportunity
to learn how you can contribute to this valuable service of our hobby.

As is customary, light refreshments including coffee, snacks and other
drinks will be served.
