I think we all know that it's John Sabini who controls the weather, and
John didn't say anything about these warnings.
Nonetheless, we probably ought to pay attention. Thanks to Frank Cassella
for forwarding them.

Subject: Fwd: Rain/Wind expected Mon Aftn/Night
Good afternoon,
Moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Karen will merge with a cold
front that moves across southern New England tomorrow (Monday). This will
impact the region in several ways:
*Widespread showers*: Expect widespread showers late Monday through
Monday night across southern New England. Because of the tropical
component...rain will be locally heavy at times and could cause nuisance
urban and poor drainage flooding...particularly if drains are leaf-clogged.
*Severe Thunderstorms*: There is potential for a few isolated
thunderstorms and of those, for one or two to become severe, producing
strong to damaging winds. These will most likely occur late Monday
afternoon and evening.
*Strong Winds*: Along and ahead of the front, expecting southerly winds
30 to 40 mph (higher gusts possible within any thunderstorms). While this
is below our criteria for a wind advisory, because trees are still mostly
fully leaved, these winds have the potential to produce downed branches and
downed trees as well as isolated power outages. These winds are possible
across the entire region, mainly in the late afternoon and through the
overnight.
We are not planning to have any conference calls for this storm. We will
update by email as necessary and as always you are welcome to ask questions
via this email account, phone, or NWSChat.
