The first local Hamfest of the Fall is this coming weekend! Come on out
to the Western CT Hamfest Sunday, Sept. 9 at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main
Street, Newtown. If you get lost, talk-in is on the 147.300(+) with PL
100.0Hz.

The Hamfest is sponsored by The Candlewood Amateur Radio
Association—there will be the flea market, food, vendors, prizes,
and forums. Admission is just $6; tables, $15 including one admission;
tailgating $10.00. Children under 10 years old will be admitted free of
charge!

Don’t miss NE2Q’s talk about antennas. You’ll want to get those
antennas working before the cold winter!

Want to back up power to your station? There will be a sale of big gel
cell batteries—first come first served! Now these are different from
the norm—they range from 75AH to 160AH! Prices range from $20-$70 so
don’t miss out! Make sure your back is in good shape though cuz
they’re heavy! You can see the battery specs by going to *

The Southeastern CT Amateur Mobile System (SCRAMS) is holding their
monthly meeting tomorrow Thursday, September 6 at the Red Cross Office
2nd floor, Safety Center, Waterford at 7:30. ASEC Bill W1GTT will
bring the mobile communications unit so if you have not seen it, come
on out—he’ll give you a fine tour!

In addition, a short demo will be given on the PropScope Oscilloscope
using it with a Laptop to view digital & analog signals for
troubleshooting your electronic projects.

One more note. I reported last month that there were 1,000 attendees
at Boxboro. There were actually 2,000 participants which makes the
probability of AB1GL winning both prizes even smaller!

I’ll write more later in the month. See you at the Hamfest!
