Our own Paul Danzer (N1II) is the author of an article in QST magazine this
month (April 2012).
The article appears on pg 46-47 and is titled "Balanced Line SWR
Measurement". In it, Paul describes an old-timer method of measuring SWR in
balanced feed lines (e.g., window line, open line), and then provides a
design for a more modern method that actually meters the SWR.
I had some cores left over from building the K2, so I cobbled something
together yesterday and tested the ladder line feeding my doublet -- and
discovered why my AT-897 tuner has trouble tuning up the antenna on 10
meters. Based on that, I changed the length of my feedline by a few feet
and the antenna is now loading decently on all bands.
