[CTSARA] Emergency Preparedness

Good Morning-

There are many ways in which Ham Radio operators prepare for radio emergencies that can be helpful in every day life.

Many of us have generators that were bought to keep us going when the power goes out, but (hopefully) get more hours on Field Day than in actual use. [BTW, today is a GREAT day to run your monthly test on that generator!]

I also happen to keep to large batteries for use primarily on public service events, but today I found an everyday use. My wife's car has been sitting in the garage (nose first) for about 10 days. I found the battery dead and no way to (easily) get the other car to it. AHA! I grabbed one of my batteries and jump started her car. No fuss, and I can put it in the back of the car in case I need it later today :)

What items do YOU own for ham radio that you find an everyday use for (or vice versa)? Please share your thoughts with the email list.

'73s & Happy New Year.
