In addition to the IARU-related stations that Jon W3EIC wrote about a few
days ago, there is another set of special events stations that might be
worth your time -- stations commemorating the 100th anniversary of the
sinking of the Titanic.
GR100MGY will be operating from 10 April through 14 April (possibly 15
April also) on all bands with at least two transmitters in operation at any
time
GB100MGY is going one step further. They will be transmitting with the
GB100MGY callsign on 502KHz during the evening of 14 April/15 April (the
night that Titanic sank). They will cross-band to 3566Khz or 7066Khz
(depending on band conditions) so that people can work them since 502Khz is
not now a ham frequency. Their web site is
http://www.gb100mgy-fortperchrock.co.uk/about.htm NOTE the time zone
issues if you want to work them on 502Khz
GB100MGY will be on the air on regular ham bands from 6 April to 26 April.
PH100MGY is a Dutch station that will be on the air from 1 April to 28
April on all bands
DM100MGY is a German station that will be on the air from 1 Jan to 31 Dec
on all bands.
I know that there is also a French station with a call that begins with T
and ends in 100MGY. I heard them on the air the other day but didn't write
down the call.
Let's see how many we can get. Tina and I are going to try for the
GB100MGY the night of 14-15 April.
And in case you're wondering, MGY was Titanic's callsign.
