I just had a QSO on the 2 meter SF repeater with somebody in the Copake NY area, which is 80+ miles away. He was running 25 watts from a battery operated rig. Full quieting, loud and clear. The fact that he was operating from the top of a 1200' hilltop probably didn't hurt. 73s Jon
