[CTSARA] You're Not Getting It If ...

... you're thinking that you're leaving the house on Sunday. A couple of
different members have made mention of going out on Sunday to provide shift
changes at the shelters or at Govt Center.

IF the storm is as strong as forecast, you aren't.

Police, fire, and ambulance are expecting that by Sunday morning the winds
will be so strong that they will be unable to respond to 9-1-1 calls. Yes,
you heard that right. They will not respond. At current forecast, that
could last until as late as 3pm on Sunday.

Also, be very careful about the eye of the hurricane. When the eye hits,
everything suddenly becomes calm and bright and nice. People get fooled
into going out -- maybe even taking a walk around the neighborhood or
getting in their cars to drive around a bit. DON'T. It's often as little
as 2 minutes transition between that lovely bucolic scene and the full force
of the eyewall winds hitting. Meaning that within 2 minutes, the winds will
go from light and scattered to 80 or 90 mph. It could be dangerous if
you're outside your house at all, and certainly dangerous if you're out and
about in your car or on foot.
