Oooopsie
I was working on the hospital 440 repeater this afternoon in my basement, and
one of the things I was doing was activating it repeatedly with my HT. The HT
was on low power (1/2 watt), using a rubber duckie, behind a stone wall and was
actually below ground level with no clear shot to the SF antenna.
I just heard from Curt that the SF 440 was picking up my signal and was
kerchunking. He could tell it was me because he heard one of my dogs barking
and recognized the bark. Then about 5:15 or so, the SF 440 went silent and is
still silent.
I'm hoping that it went silent because someone turned it off due to the
kerchunking. If so, it's okay to turn it back on and I apologize -- I really
didn't think that there was any way the repeater could pick up my little HT on
low power located where it was.
If not, we have a problem with the SF 440.
The good news is that I have successfully replaced the burned out amp in the
hospital 440 and it tests out fine. Now all I need is the cable that I think
Chris has and we can reinstall it in the hospital.
