As some of you know, the CT ARES Simulated Emergency Test (SET) is scheduled for
this coming Saturday, Nov 6.

Unfortunately, the SET conflicts with a major Red Cross exercise as well as
meetings that some of us have to attend for the NYC Marathon, which is the next
day (Sun Nov 7). As a result, some of us (e.g., me) won't be available for the
SET. Despite that, we would like to have Region 1 West (that's us) participate
in the SET.

Jon Solomon (W3EIC) has agreed to run a controlled net on the Stamford 2 meter
repeater from 9am to 12 noon. Our primary need is to have people check in to
the net at some point between 9am and 12 noon. You do not have to spend a lot
of time on the net; we need people to simply check in and that's it. Be that as
it may, the scenario for this year is supposed to be interesting enough that you
might want to stick around.

And, if you're going to check in on Stamford, we would appreciate it if you
would also check the other repeaters in the area to see if they are running
nets, and if so to please in on a couple of other nets. Those nets are:

Norwalk 2 meter (146.475 +1MHz / 100Hz)
Norwalk 70 centimeter (448.075 -5MHz / 114.8Hz)
Fairfield 2 meter (146.895 -600KHz / 77Hz)
New Canaan 2 meter (146.775 -600KHz / 100Hz)
New Canaan 70 centimeter (447.275 -5MHz / 123Hz)
Bridgeport 146.445 +1MHz / 77Hz)

Again, we just need you to check in. You do not have to hang around.

Thanks to Jon (W3EIC) and thanks to all of you who participate.

I would like to conduct a PORTABLE digital exercise in late Nov or Dec. We'll
have to see how that plays out.

Jon
