Forgot to mention about your K1. I have the predecessor, Wilderness 
Sierra with 8 band modules. Basically the same radio (receiver, at 
least) but not quite.
I love it.
Just IMO, forget 10 or 13 wpm. It is extremely difficult to build speed 
from there. Download the G4FON software. It uses the Kock method and do 
not start below 22 ~ 25 wpm or you will spend 20 years to build speed 
like I did when I was a teenager, by counting dots and dashes.
