It's quite remarkable how many technologies we think of as relatively modern
(in this case, pixel representations of characters) are actually based on
much older ideas.

Is a digital mode that produces graphic images of the text being sent,
rather than just producing text.  It's similar to fax in the sense that it
doesn't produce  data that can be manipulated, edited, copy/pasted into
emails, etc.  
That's unfortunate because it does forward error correction and is a highly
accurate mode.

I stumbled across a Feld Hell net on 7075 tonight and got my first three
Feld Hell QSOs.  I took a screen capture showing what it looks like when
using DM780 (Ham Radio Deluxe).  If anyone wants to see the screen capture,
