Hey all,
I spent most of today in Longmeadow, MA at this month's North East
Weak Signal (NEWS) meeting. Today was the duct tape auction. More on
that later. NEWS is a group of VHF and up weak signal enthusiasts. A
lot of the active members are into contesting and most of the meeting
was spent on finding who has what and what grid square they're in.
The reason for those questions was that the January VHF Sweepstakes is
coming up and they're looking to drum up more contestants.

I think this might be a good contest to get involved with because even
Technician class operators can participate. The Jan. VHF Sweepstakes
is 50Mhz and up.

The duct tape auction was fun!! Basic idea is you take one
interesting item and duct tape it to something that really isn't
great, and the bundle is auctioned off. (One of the NEWS members acted
as the auctioneer) The sellers could either keep the profit or give
it to the club. I think the highest bid was $60 for some signal
splitters.

thoughts?
