[Corkradioclub] Glanmire Community College International Space Station QSO

By fortunate accident I ended up at Glanmire Community College for the ISS event today - it was, in a word, fantastic. The school kids and staff had clearly put a big effort into the preparation for the event and it showed. The scale of their effort pointed to the fact that they considered the event a really big deal. It was very clear to me that they also fully appreciated (there were 1000+ people watching in Cork alone and more in Romania) that the whole thing was enabled and made possible by amateur radio.

In true “ham” fashion the radio team who made the whole thing happen were modest and understated but I think that impressed the students too - the “radio folks” came, did the job and didn’t make a fuss; I’ve two teenage daughters and I know they respect that approach, they get too much “in your face” all the time these days...

Credit to all those including Cork Radio Club members who did their bit to make today happen and happen so successfully. It was a really good day for amateur radio in Cork and in Ireland...
