Hi Gents,
We've a few days to go now and the long-range forecast looks good--could be
a good weekend in the making. I think the equipment is pretty much sorted
and we've now got two caravans coming plus a member representing the
far-western reaches of the county and maybe a member emeritus from
Skibbereen.
It's nearly time to think about getting ingredients for the hamburgers. I
will make up enough only for those that want them and willing to pay me
€5. I'll make two hamburgers for each plus buns and all the fixings. If
you want to be in but don't have 'hamburgers' next to your name on the list
below, please let me know LATEST THURSDAY by email or phone. Like I said
before, there will be room on the BBQ if you want to bring your own food.
If I get the boat out in time and weather on the day permits, I might go
out early Sunday morning and try to catch us some mackerel to grill for our
breakfast.
We're missing some that I'd hoped would be coming but here is the list:
Jeremy 5GM (contest op)
Dave 9FBB (contest op) + hamburgers
Jack 7HO + hamburgers
Dave 4BZ (contest op) + caravan
Jerry 6BT (contest op)
Jim 8GS (Sat only)
Brian 5HV + hamburgers
Bernie 6AX (Sat only)
Hans 9GRB + caravan + hamburgers + guitar
I'll send out directions to email addresses of each of you that are coming
as I'd rather not put it on the reflector. You're welcome to turn up on
Friday night but I won't be around much and you'll be on your own for power
as I hadn't planned to start the generator until Saturday. Come as early
as you can on Saturday--I'll be up by 8am.

Gents,
Thought it might be a good time to recap where we are at the moment.
So far, those planning to come are Jeremy 5GM, Dave 9FBB, Jack 7HO, Dave
4BZ, Jerry 6BT, Jim 8GS (Sat only), Brian 5HV, and me. I've heard talk
that a couple more may be coming but these are the only ones confirmed. If
I've missed someone, please let me know. I'll ask this time next week who
wants to be counted in for the hamburgers.
Ops so far are Jeremy 5GM, Dave 9FBB, Dave 4BZ and Jerry 6BT. We need more
ops.
The only caravan I know about will be brought by Dave 4BZ. This has an
enclosed canopy for an operating location. We need more caravans for
sleeping quarters unless some are happy to bunk on the floor in the barn.
By the way, the barn has a toilet so that need is provided for.
Dave 4BZ will bring a full restricted station (I assume that includes rig,
tuner, antenna and laptop for logging). Jeremy 5GM and Jim 8GS have each
offered to bring a vertical antenna but I'm not sure which of these or
Dave's we plan to use. My generator will provide power for one station and
caravan(s) by the water.
We will enter one restricted station (Ei1C/P) and maybe another if we get
more bodies. DARC accepts registrations for Field Day but I'm not sure
that's any different from registering with the IRTS. I couldn't find a way
to register with the IARU. Anybody know how to do that and/or if it's
necessary?
Tim

Hello Tim/All I will go down Friday evening or Sat morn early, will want to
come back Sat night, I have a long heavy mains lead if required, if you
want the vertical I can bring it but it needs a tuner ,the auto tuner in
the TS2000 would not tune it,, the black auto tuner I used at Browhead is
4BZ,s and will be in use I guess, on pro,s and cons of one or two stations,
the only comment I would make is that what ever is done is done properly,
the aim should be to beat those across the water ,never mind those up the
country, as some of those taking part have this *18 times the intention
should be to catch up with Manchester United*

Hi Tim
Having put a bit more thought into the open section entry i feel it
may not be such a good idea.
We would most likely create lots of interference to the restricted station.
Band pass filters are a definite requirement before we attempt to run
amplifiers.
I suppose we could enter with 100w and a beam antenna etc but should
another entry from ei decide to enter the contest we would have little
chance of winning.
What about 2 restricted station and we compete with one another?
If there is no entry in the open section after we can always change
one entry to open section then.
Tnx
Jeremy
