Hi Tim and gang,
I will probably come and get in the way as usual hi, be no use on cw lost
it long ago. Don't have any usefull antenna for this purpose but glad to
pitch in and help with set-up etc. The bbq sounds a great idea, especially
for those of us not operating and a contribution to costs sounds fair to
me. I second Dave's vote of thanks to you and your xyl. Look forward to
seeing a big gang there in glorious sunshine hi.

Hi Tim, Jeremy es all,

It would be great to get a little indication of one's interest in operating
CW field day this year. If a large enough team could be raised, perhaps it
might be more fun to aim high and enter the open section. The 24 hours goes
particularly 'slow' with just 100w and single element antenna. I know there
is a shortage of CW ops amongst us but don't let this discourage you,
everyone is welcome and hands are always needed to help with set up,
testing and most importantly, for good old fashioned conversation!!

Speaking of hands, I think Hans is also coming with his camper van. Maybe
with a little encouragement he might bring his guitar too!!

As Jeremy said, if we do end up with too many CW ops, we can easily put on
a second station and have a little 'inter club challenge'. There are some
great CW ops in the CRC - we could do really well if we all 'mucked in'.
So, no matter what one's capability is, remember, some QSOs are better than
NO QSOs. Here's to another enjoyable CRC event.

Note:
This has all the makings of a great social weekend. I'd like to thank Tim
and Ann?? XYL for kindly offering to host us in the beautiful Baltimore for
the weekend.

Hope to see you all there.

Hi Jeremy,

Great that you can come. That makes two so far--you and Dave 9FBB. I can
help set up and do some cooking but I won't be much use on the key
unfortunately. We need more ops before we can consider a competing station
on site.

Jim 8GS had a multiband vertical on Brow Head that I think worked well.
The rules don't seem to disallow that as it is still only one element:

> One transceiver with a maximum output power of 100 watts PEP. There may
> be one antenna only, which must be a single element such as a dipole,
> vertical, long wire, etc., having not more than two elevated support
points

There are two good options for siting a vertical. One is a nice open spot
that is about 10m above sea level and about 20m from the water's edge. The
soil is very thin for stays but pretty flat for radials. The other option
is to strap a vertical onto the metal railing of the pier that is right at
the water's edge and almost surrounded by water. We wouldn't be able to
deploy radials there but the sea water might compensate. Both the above
will require about a 30m run of coax to where the operating tent will most
likely go.

Anyone that wants to respond about anything, please press your FORWARD
button (not reply) and paste CorkRadioClub at mailman.qth.net in the To
field. That way everyone will see your post.

Hi Tim
I'll do my best to attend for cw f/d.
A vertical antenna should work well especially if near the sea.
Far as i know it should be within the rules to alter the element
length when band changing or I have an r7000 multiband vertical if you
wish to use that.Assume it ok.
Dave 4bz was using it up to recently so i just check with him.this
would simplify the set up process.
If we have a few op's then perhaps i will run a seperate station using
ei3hb.
A little competition among ourselves be fun also.
