Hi Cormac,
The Marconi Day sponsors (www.gb4imd.com) show one 24-hour GMT day every
year as International Marconi Day, and I don't know what they think about
contacts outside of those days since contacts on that day qualify for IMD
awards. However, our licence will last at least for the weekend Friday to
Sunday. I've asked ComReg to issue the call sign on a permanent basis this
year and not just for the weekend as before. So during Sunday we will be
able to use the call sign assuming the station is still assembled.
In 2011 we decided to break camp on Sat afternoon because of very high
winds, but last year we stayed until Sunday morning. So hopefully we can
do that again so that you could come Sun morning and operate at least a
short while. Even if conditions are bad on the Sunday, you will still be
very welcome at the very least for some post-op camaraderie. Anyone else
is welcome on the Friday or Saturday or even Sunday--even if they can't
stay for the whole time.
By the way, the www.gb4imd.com web site has some very interesting posts by
other stations around the world that are taking part in Marconi Day--well
worth a look to see what company we are keeping.
