This is one of three LK-800C/TNY's that have been in my arsenal a long
time. It comes in two units of course. One is the RF
deck, housing THREE 3CX800A7's (all good, full-output
tubes), plus the tuning and control/protection circuitry (step-start,
in-rush, grid protection, automatic reset). At 8"x14'"x15.5" it sits on
your
desk and makes a really small footprint. The other unit, slightly
smaller (8.5"x12"x12.5"), is the external powerpac, which sits on the
floor and houses a massive (and VERY heavy) Peter Dahl transformer that
supplies 2.5kv or 3.2kv (switchable) to the plates. On the test bench,
using a 5kw dummy load and Bird wattmeter with 5kw slug, 120w drive on
21.300mhz produced 4000w output with just 1800 mils on the plate and
just 70 mils on the grid, and this amp can easily handle 2000 on plate
and 150 on grid, so it REALLY DOES "loaf at legal limit"--all day. It
does all amateur bands 160m-10m. It is the latest model, little used
since checked by Bill Edwards at Omega Electronics in 2000, and is in
like-new condition. All controls, switches, meters, etc. work smoothly
and as designed. There is an effective dual-speed fan. Cosmetically
the amp is near perfect; even the power pac--painted flat black--is
nearly flawless. Front panel, knobs, lettering, lights, meter faces
etc, are all perfect. Make no mistake, this is a DURABLE WORKHORSE and
A REMARKABLE POWERHOUSE that will outdo any amp that can be legally sold
for amateur use in the USA (it actually meets or exceeds the "export"
models sold by other manufacturers). AND it is a very good-looking amp
that I am listing at a price far lower than any amp of comparable
quality. Amp International documentation included. $2,795 + shipping
firm, no discounts, no trades. Cashier's check, money order, or PayPal
okay. Photo available; no disappointments.
