Greetings all-
I have a Collins 32RS-1 HF transceiver in good order, but with only two
channels fitted. The transceiver, which is upper sideband only, has four
switch selectable channels and uses special plug-in coil assemblies for
tuning the various stages to each channel. I'm interested in getting coils
for the bands I don't have if anyone has any spares.
Collins provided these coils in sets but I doubt any of those are left 'in
the wild'. The coil sets were designed to cover 1.5 to 15 MHz in six
frequency ranges as follows-
1.6 to 2 MHz; 2 to 3.3 MHz: 3.3 to 5.5 MHz:5.5 to 9 MHz:9 to 12 MHz and 12
to 15 MHz.
A full set of coils for a channel is made up of six coils, comprising a RX
antenna rf coil, four electrically similar coils used in the low level
stages in both TX and RX, and a PA coil assembly used in the TX output stage
plate circuit.
All but the PA coil assys are probably not difficult to build as they are
just a single tuned circuit plus coupling capacitor. Some experimenting
should enable the appropriate LC values to be determined for the tuning
range required. In all cases the mechanical arrangements for the low level
coils -3/4 inch square metal can and plugin base, coil formers etc- should
not be too hard to duplicate.
The PA coil assys are a different matter- they are a complicated
arrangement with two small adjustable inductors and other components- they
would be very difficult to duplicate.
PA coil assys for the following bands are what I need- 1.6 - 2.0 MHz, 3.3 -
5.5 MHz, 9.0 - 12.0 MHz, 12.0 - 15.0 MHz
Of course, I'm interested in any other coils assys if there are spares out
there doing nothing and wanting a good home! No idea what this stuff is
worth these days but happy to pay a reasonable amount and cover shipping.
