[Collins] How to access parts under 30S1 tube socket

The "pop' AND "smoke" "released" from my beloved 40 year old plus Collins 30S1 tells me there is a smoked component beneath the amplifier tube socket. I am not an expert electronics tech however, in my 66 years as a ham operator my ears and nose and "bang" knows smoke when it happens.
I have the tube removed however I can't see beneath the tube socket to determine what parts let their smoke out.
Can anyone please advise me how to visibly access the components beneath the tube socket. Will I have to remove the socket from the top of the chassis? Your tips and advice will be GREATLY appreciated.
