Hello Howie,

That's great that you are still using the BC348-Q and you are correct
that most Novice licensees could not afford Collins gear but there were
a few rare exceptions!  Anyway that was back in March!

I don't know about later years of Novice activity, but when I got my
Novice in the very early 60s, Collins was just waaaay above most
peoples' heads. S and SX, HQ, HE, and of course the HR receivers were
the main rage. I doubt I ever worked anyone using a Collins as a Novice,
unless maybe it belonged to a parent/mentor. My parent/mentor (Dad) had
a BC-348Q which I still use.....
