Hello,
over the last 15 years my friend Zlatko 9A6SUE from Umag/Croatia (part of former Yugoslavia) has repaired and refurbished many 851S-1 which came out of former Yugoslavia military depots. He sold these 851S-1 at swapmeets in Italy and the Hamradio fair at Lake Constance in southern Germany on the border to Austria and Switzerland for many years.
Zlatko's stock is diminishing fast, he only has very few 851S-1 left and there is very little chance that he will get any more as the depots are long empty.
I met Zlatko last weekend and he is still recovering from his bypass surgery earlier this year. I offered him to sell these fine receivers for him on the Collins list as Zlatko is not a list member.
Offered for sale is a Rockwell-Collins 851S-1 receiver. The 851S-1 has 7 Collins mechanical filters and offers bandwidths 0.2 kHz, 0.5 kHz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, 6 kHz, LSB and USB as well as 16 kHz due to the roofing filter.
The receiver has modes SSB, CW, AM.
Tuning step is 10 Hz.
Pictures are available on request.
Overall condition is very good to excellent, no marks on the front panel, a few smaller scratches on the top and bottom cover due to rack mounting.
The 851S-1 is completely restored and in fully working condition.
Unfortunately Zlatko no longer has the optional boards: VBFO, AFC and IF Channel B
Price is EUR 1,000 which is about US $ 1,170 at today's rate.
I will ship worldwide. I have two 851S-1 in Germany for immediate shipment. Make yourself a Christmas present.
I will pack very carefully in a strong triple wall export box (10mm wall thickness) with thick styrofoam cushioning.
Please ask for shipping charges. As a hint expect about $ 240 shipping to the US via UPS Express (transit time 2 days). I can also ship as a insured postal parcel (usual transit time about 3 to 4 weeks but probably longer in the Christmas season) for about $80 less.
