[Collins] REDUCED Collins Crystals

Only those that end in 55 or 7.5 kHz are S-line/KWM-2 crystals. For the 
band those that end in 55 kHz subtract 3.155 for the bottom frequency of 
the 200 kHz band segment. For those that end in 7.5 kHz multiply by 2 
and then subtract 3.155 MHz. The lowest stock S-line crystal will be for 
3.5 Mhz, 6.655 MHz on the crystal, the highest will be 29.5 MHz band 
crystal marked 16.3275 MHz. The others could be any thing many military 
and aeronautical products used crystals too. The even MHz could be 51J 
or 618T parts.

The rigs will work with crystals in the range but not on those precise 
frequencies but the dial calibration will not be correct. I modified my 
75S-3B about the second year I had it (bought new in May 1964) to add an 
auxiliary crystal socket up on the front end of the rack frame with a 
toggle switch to select that socket or the sockets through the band 
switch down below. I used it with many an odd crystal to go out of bands.

Long ago I did get my dad's 75S-2 to receive 160 meters with a 3.955 MHz 
crystal and some added padding capacitors added to the low end 
connections of the bandswitch to tune the rack down that far.
